Sam, childcare - SR1 Sunderland

Hello, my name is Sam and I'm currently a student from Oxford taking a year out of my course to live in Sunderland. I'm looking to earn a little money through providing childcare; occasionally, regularly or something in between.

I've got plenty of experience with kids, being 13 when my little brother Horatio was born I stepped in and helped when I could from then on as the big brother. Changing nappies, burping him and helping him get to sleep were all things I'd learned within a month. Horatio is 8 now, and along with my younger TWIN siblings, Arthur and Verity both aged 5, I feel I've got far more experience looking after little ones than most get by the age of 21. In addition I've done plenty of childcare for my many cousins, family friends, neighbors and the like with nothing but shining praise. I've also worked in semi-related roles, such as organizing and managing children aged around 7 to 15 from abroad as they play sports, do activities and go on excursions into cities in the English language holiday center ELAC. This is my first step, however, into a more 'professional' childcare environment.

At this point I've learned every trick in the book regarding keeping kids happy, I'm an excellent engineer of pillow forts, have accumulated hours and hours reading bedtime stories and have learned the secrets of how to organise something 'arts and craftsy' without even making the table a mess. I have a great love of cooking and often find that making something that both everyone agrees on and is a healthy balanced dish is easy with a few well-placed questions and a little bit of presentation.

Overall, I enjoy kids immensely and I have more than enough experience to know how to handle virtually any situation that pops up. I've looked after children of every disposition and of every age and enjoyed almost every moment.
