Eve-ruby, childcare in Worksop

I am 17 years old and have babysat for family and friends for over 2 years, there is a lot of little ones in my family and I enjoy looking after them. I study Health and Social Care Level 3 at North Nottinghamshire College and since I have been here I have gained my first aid certificate. Within this course I study "safe guarding young children" and "psychology" so I have a great understanding of what children's needs are and how to deliver that to them. After college I hope to go on to university to study childcare and hopefully after that become a nursery nurse. With my course you have to do work experience, for my work placement I chose to work in a local nursery where I work with new-born babies up to 6 year olds'. My duties in the nursery are: changing nappies, bottle feeding, sterilizing bottles and dummies, changing their clothes if necessary, comforting them as much as possible (reading them stories, singing lullabies if it helps them sleep, playing with their toys with them, settling them down for naps etc.). For the older children I cook their food, wash their pots, read them story's, and if the weather is nice take them out to play in suitable clothing.
Previously I worked at a café in Sheffield running craft sessions for children, I did many sessions including Easter egg making, Christmas card making, mothers day craft sessions and many more. My aim of the sessions was for the children to have lots of fun while there carers relaxed and as a result have something they have made and they are proud of to take home. Before the sessions I made examples of some ideas the children was able to copy and prepared all materials that was needed, which I then took along with me.
My main priority when I am around children, is the children, to make sure they have there needs met and they are happy.
