Ellie, foreign au pair - LS6 Leeds

Hi my name is Ellie, I'm 20 years old and live in West Yorkshire with my Mum, Dad, younger brother(17) and my younger sister(10). We are a close knit family who love to have fun and travel to new places. I'm currently within the final stages of my driving lessons and hope to have my test passed and own car within the next couple of months. For the last year I've studied forensic psychology at Leeds Trinity with the end goal of hopefully joining the police force specialising within child protection, how ever I have since changed my mind and in September I begin an open degree in social work.
I've grown up around young children and babies which is where I think my initial interest in childcare stemmed from. I've had a work experience placement in a nursery for a month, this saw me interacting with children aged between 4 and 5 assisting them with basic learning tasks and providing stimulating activities to keep them entertained. I have also previously worked as a nanny for a couple within the army, this saw me living in Ipswich with the family as both parents were in the army and life changed on a day to day basis due to the demands of the army so I had to be extremely versatile and adaptable. The children I looked after were two little boys aged two and three, both very energetic with a huge passion for dinosaurs. I throughly enjoyed my time in this role, it was a brilliant experience and provided me with a number of skills vital for looking after children. I often had both children over night by myself while parents were away on trips. For three years I volunteered at a group for people with learning difficulties and disabilities which prepped me with a good set of skills for working with a diverse spectrum of people.
I'm an active, fun, dependable, down to earth girl who has a great passion for working with children and always strives to do my best by the children within my care.
