Lyn, foreign au pair : Swallownest

I am a compassionate, energetic and playful individual. I enjoy interacting with people, building positive relationships with everyone around me. I like to see all those whom I encounter as an addition to my ever growing family.

I was born in Zimbabwe, however I moved to the UK in 1999. I am able to speak both English and Shona fluently. Additionally I can speak, read and write French and German at an intermediate level.

I have many years of childcare experience. Since 2011, I have been working as a nanny during my vacations looking after children from as young as one day old through to their teenage years. Furthermore, due to our seven year age difference, have been largely responsible for the care of my little sister since her birth. I am well accustomed to providing excellent care to children always promoting their mental and physical wellbeing.

From 2009 – 2014 I volunteered as a Sunday School Assistant at Victoria Hall. I was responsible for providing safe yet fun games and activities for the children in addition to assisting the play of toddlers and infants. I have received training on the fundamental policies of safeguarding and health and safety with regards to children’s play.

Due to my love of children and learning, I have read widely around the subject and obtained an understanding of child development and psychology. This has enabled me to understand the behaviour of children in addition to their developmental requirements. Thus I am able to tailor all planned activities to the age of the child ensuring that their needs are satisfied.

Furthermore I undertook an online course on child nutrition, therefore I have a good understanding of the nutritional requirements of a child according to their age.

For the past two years I have offered beginners piano tuition to young children from the ages of three to ten years old. I greatly enjoyed this role, as I love imparting my own skills to children who have infinite potential. I would say that my greatest accomplishment are my piano students.

I am a hard-working and resilient individual. I am capable of working under demand and I always aim to exceed the requirements of my position, striving to go the extra mile and truly make a difference. I would greatly appreciate the opportunity to make a valuable contribution to your family.
