My name is Emma. I am an Education student at York St John University and will soon have finished my third and final year. Although I will be graduating with a degree in Education, I spent two of my years at York St John studying Primary Education, including school placements that involved working with children between the ages of 5 and 11.
Before attending university, I worked across a small chain of nurseries in Nottinghamshire as a supply member of staff. I began my experience with these nurseries through voluntary work while at college, then once exams had finished, worked up until I moved to York for the start of my course.
For the first two academic years, in my summer and Christmas breaks I returned home and worked in the nurseries. Throughout my time there, I have built up a strong connection with the staff, children and parents. My job entailed caring for the children and monitoring their progress and helping to create a happy, safe and stimulating environment.
I am friendly and positive, and love helping people! I can happily and efficiently work alone, but I particularly enjoy working with others to create a warm environment and productive workplace. I consider myself to be a hard worker and fast learner, as well somebody who enjoys new challenges. I have built up a range of skills, both social and professional, throughout my experiences in education in addition to paid and voluntary work. I value punctuality, and believe myself to be a reliable and flexible individual.
