Merlin, home childcare - LE1 Leicester

I am enthusiastic about early learning, and development; caring and positive. I love working with children and engaging in learning opportunities depending on the child's individual interests. I have previously volunteered as a kindergarten assistant at St Paul's Steiner school in London, and whilst working as a nanny for two families engaged with the Steiner Waldorf approach to early years early years (Jan 2014-July 2015) I took the children to the Parent and Child group there each week.

In July 2013, I successfully completed a Level 6 childcare qualification, Graduate Diploma in Early Years Practice with EYPS (Early Years Professional Status) at the University of Northampton. Throughout the course, I gained further childcare experience whilst on placement at a range of Early Years settings, which provided me with the opportunity to work full-time with children aged 0-5 years. I also volunteered at The Spark Children's Art Festival during my studies. Post qualification, I worked as a Crèche Assistant at Bee's Crèche at Shambala festival, followed by working at a day nursery in Leicester. I also have experience of teaching English to children aged 3-12 during my 6 month Teaching English Internship in Thailand.

Prior to undertaking the Graduate Diploma, I gained a First Class Honours degree in English with Creative writing, and I also have a Foundation Diploma in Art and Design.

I love being creative and planning experiences which spark children's imaginations, promoting communication, interaction and learning through play. I am very adaptable, caring and hardworking and I would welcome the opportunity to work in a creative childcare environment.
