Babysitting - occasional can be minimum wage (this depends on age too) to about £9 per hour net. This can depend on number of children and times of hours. If the children are in bed already when the babysitter arrives some babysitters charge less for these hours. Also expenses to get a taxi home should be included when necessary.

A Regular Babysitter - includes school run, being responsible for making tea, taking them to after school clubs etc.. Normally between £7-11 per hour depending on experience.

Childminder - depending on location and number of children Childminders can charge around £4- £6 per hour per child.

A Professional Nanny - fully qualified with experience. A first time nanny can earn from roughly £10 - £13 per hour. An experienced Nanny can earn from around £13 -£20 per hour. There are many variations on salaries for Nannies because it can depend on what the family is prepared to pay and whether they are looking for someone from a prestigious school, who is bilingual, prepared to live abroad etc.. Top nannies are normally found through a nanny agency.

All childcarers in the London area often expect the higher end of salary expectations. Rates per hour really depend on the quality of childcare being offered eg. with help tutoring, teaching etc and experience. Also for a one off Babysitter/Nanny job at short notice or on New Years Eve etc.. you will often pay a premium.
