Hi, my name is Maryann . I am a Mother of five. My children are all adults now. I have been a childminder for many years when my own children were small. As they grew I took my career path towards working as a PSA in school for children with special needs. Following this I began working in the local nursery as an Early Years Officer. During this time I have taken many courses and received many certificates which relate to the health and well being and development of young children and their progress in education. I work from a child centred approach taking the children's experiences and building on them to extend their learning in a way they enjoy. I believe if a child is interested in what they have chosen to do they learn better. I am a firm believer in boundaries for young children. They feel more secure and safe knowing where these boundaries are. Restorative approaches are used if any conflict develops with children in my care. Its important children benefit from outdoor experiences and have completed a forest kindergarten course. Beach trips have been a regular learning experience in my practice also. I am aware of how to deliver and make these trips exciting and deliver them in a way that children are learning about the environment. Through observing the children at play I have the knowledge to extend this play so children are getting the most out of their own experiences and imagination. Games and activities I cover will develop children's fine and gross motor skills. I look forward to hearing from who ever may be interested in what I have to offer.
