I'm currently a 2nd year at the University of Sussex. I'm 19, fluent in Italian and semi-fluent in French (having received grade A at A-level in both languages) - being fresh from sixth-form, I'm happy to help any child I babysit with their homework and learning. I've always loved working with kids, and have been babysitting ever since I was old enough not to need a sitter myself! I've had lots of experience working with children from a young age; from changing my little cousins' nappies when I was 13 to tutoring/mentoring in schools as an adult.
Aside various voluntary work at school clubs/programmes, I've also had some experience in paid childcare work:
When studying Maths at A-level, I worked at primary schools for a couple of hours every week tutoring students aged 10-11 who were falling behind in Maths. I became very familiar with the SATS papers, organising specific lessons for individuals struggling with specific topics and preparing the kids for their first ever exams!
At sixth form, I got involved in a Peer Support programme offered by my school; designed to help troubled year 7 students (aged 11-13) settle in to secondary school as well as having someone to talk to/look up to. This paid work involved covering weekly tutorial sessions with designated tutor groups, supervising lunch breaks as a member of staff, and organising 1-1 sessions with students in need of counselling. We were there to support the kids who were struggling with various issues (be it at home, at school or in general). Completing a counselling course was a requirement for the job.
I also have a little experience in language teaching; having spent a week teaching English in a primary school in Rouen to French kids aged 7-10. This was part of a French exchange programme I got involved in whilst studying the language at A-level.
Out of term-time (during university holidays) I work at a nursery in my home town as a childcare assistant. I work with babies/children aged 4 months to 4 years, which has really improved my understanding of development from early-years up to pre-school learning.
As I'm currently at university, my hours are flexible and depend on my lecture times. I don't drive, but am happy to do school pick-ups if they're not too far!
