, I have worked with a family as their family has grown. The family consisted of 3 boys under 5 (all of which, I have cared for since birth), and an 8 year old girl also. I have helped run the household as the mother was recovering after giving birth and again when she was taken ill, as the father was very busy with work. My duties included school runs, getting the children up and ready for the day, making meals/packed lunches/ mixing up milk formula, feeding the children when they were not capable themselves, caring for them when they were ill, doing the bedroom routines, playing with them and keeping them entertained, and taking them to the park as I feel it is important to get fresh air. I also did household chores like washing up, doing washing and ironing, tidying up and occasionally doing night covers so that the parents could catch up on sleep. I showed great patience while caring for the children as they all had different needs. I also went to a nursery for work experience in 2009 for 2 weeks which involved helping the children, playing with them in and outside, reading books, painting and helping with food. Not only am I an energetic and enthusiastic person living and supporting myself independently, I am not afraid to get stuck in and good at working in a family environment and constantly using my own initiative. I also took health and social care as a GCSE and got a merit (B) and got a distinction (A) on the childcare unit. I have a clean full drivers licence and own my own car. I am also very flexible with days/times and can also be available occasionally at short notice.
