I am a third year student at York St John University studying Children, Young People and Families with Education Studies. On completion of this course I intend to carry in within education and undertake a year studying a PGCE in Primary Education.
As i would like to become a teacher I would be able to help children with their homework as I have had experience in school settings and would hopefully be able to pass my knowledge on to them.
I have varied experience with children, especially those who are currently attending primary school and secondary school. Throughout my teenage years I have spent a vast amount of time being a member of guides and eventually working with my local guide unit where I have had the opportunity to run games and activities indoors and outside. Through my work with guides I was given the opportunity to go on a group trip to Switzerland as a young leader 2 years ago where I was given the responsibility of helping to organise games and activities as well as being in charge of the chores which the girls had to carry out around the chalet. Further experience I have is that I was given the opportunity to volunteer in Madagascar, where I helped in local orphanages and poor communities to help children with their learning and also provide laughter and fun for them. Another experience I have working with children is at an after school club in York which I have volunteered for. here i worked mostly with the lower end of primary school, conduction art and craft activities as well as group activities such as outside projects where we had camp-fires and gardening. I have had previous experience babysitting for local families in my area where I have been given the responsibility to feed children and put them to bed at an appropriate time. As a babysitter, I am very reliable, enthusiastic and responsible individual and I enjoy being around children and being able to look after and engage with them through different activities.
