I am an American citizen and currently completing coursework towards a masters degree in Childhood Studies at Swansea University. I am currently home for the summer but will be returning to Swansea on September 18, 2014. I have a student visa that allows me to work 20 hours per week and am completeing paperwork towards a workers visa. I graduated from Colorado State University in December 2012 with a bachelors degree in Human Development and Family Studies. My coursework has entailed a wide variety of courses covering the physical, emotional, social, and cognitive development of humans at every stage of life. I completed several courses related directly to children including: Creative Experiences for Children, Child Psychology, Understanding and Observing Child Development, International Perspectives on Play, Infant and Child Development, Childrens Rights, and Safeguarding Children and Young People.
I have many pervious nonpaid volunteer experiences working one on one with children of all backgrounds in the community. While attending Colorado State University I worked as a research assistant for a grant funded projected called Campus Corps, an after school program for at-risk teenagers in the Fort Collins community that pairs adolescents with college mentors. I completed a summer internship at the Boys and Girls Club of Fort Collins organizing activities and providing supervision. I completed an internship at Polaris Expeditionary Learning School working as a teacher assistant for a semester in a middle school science classroom and was a chaperone on a weeklong backpacking trip.
I also have several paid positions working one-on-one supervising children. During the summer of 2008 I worked at Camp Chief Ouray as a non-cabin staff member and assistant kitchen manager. To financially support myself through high school and college I have been a full-time nanny, babysitter and tutor for a few families I worked as a full time lead teacher in a toddler classroom at the Goddard School in Centennial, Colorado but prefer to work one on one with families. I also have worked part time for a profession babysitting company in the states called Seekingsitters. While in Swansea I have worked part time at Abacus Day Nursery in Sketty.
