Claudia first came to work with our autistic son, Jonny, when he was in foundation year at Abbey Road Primary School (Mainstream). At the time Jonny was having lots of difficulties within the school environment, displaying behavioural problems, sensory overload and aggression towards teaching staff and peers alike. Claudia provided one to one support for Jonny for the whole school day, five days a week. Despite all the complex behaviours, communicative and sensory problems that Jonny was showing when Claudia first arrived she appeared to quickly develop a rapport with Jonny and he seemed to accept and respond to her. Within only a few months the frequency of Jonny's meltdowns decreased noticably, and he became less agressive and generally happier during the school day. As a result staff were able to include Jonny more and more in the activities that his peers were undertaking. Claudia continued to work tirelessly with Jonny on a one to one basis for the whole of Jonny's school day until he completed Year 1. During this time Claudia developed a number of strategies to facilitate Jonny's learning and educational development and, at the same time, coordinated with the other professionals working with him (S&LT, SENCO, OT etc) to implement their recommendations. I am eternally grateful to Claudia for all the work she has put into my son during his first two years in school and for how much Jonny has progressed since Claudia started working with him. I would not hesitate in recommending Claudia for a job working with children. She would be an asset to any environment she worked in.
